    More direct for reading perhaps (note: You can set intensity of brightness), and navigating in dark confined spaces. Just another option...

    I had a similar one once, and it died on me. Check out the Fact Sheet and you'll find it has a 12v sealed lead-acid battery. If you don't charge those regularly (at least once every 3 months, and preferably more often) then, like a car battery, it will suffer from sulfation and die.
