Look at the raw header of one of the 'late' notification emails. Scroll down to find the lines for:
From:
Date:
Subject:

Compare the time sent with the time received which you'll see in the first line of the header, they should be no more than a second or so apart. If there was a big difference then it was held up by one of the intermediate mail servers. You should be able to see where the hold up was from the rest of the detail in the header.

It will just be a little gmail throttling, it should sort itself out.
