@caperjack, I have a couple kicking around, some have headers soldered on. I've used them on Pi 3's and Pi 4's.

Just got one of these, the 144 pixels per meter. A one meter length. Connectors and power leads at both ends, nice.
Flexible RGB LED Strip (aka NeoPixel, WS2812, SK6812) - 144 pixels per metre
    Going to use this
    Plasma Stick 2040 W (Pico W Aboard)
and setup some under desk desktop lighting. And some effects for showing off.
    I have one of these,
    IO Expander Breakout
that I'll wire some buttons up to. That will let me adjust the brightness, and change colors / paterns.

I have it wired up to the plasma stick, and did up some quick test code to cycle it all red, then green, then blue. No dead LED's so, so far so good.

Franken Pi. It's just an AI generated image of an imagined future Pi. It doesn't exist, and likely never will.

Adafruit order just arrived, my birthday present to myself. Bought an official (rechargeable) RTC Battery for my Pi 5. Finally a Pi with an onboard RTC. I like that they gave you an option to use solder pads or plug it in. I snipped the plug off and soldered mine in so I can hide it underneath. Just enough room for it under the Pi 5 and inside the Pibow case.

What is the reason you picked the Pibow Coupe 5 Ninja case? There are so many cases to choose from now.

When I pre-ordered the Pi 5 (8GB) I ordered the official red/white case. That was about all that was available back then.

After I connected the RTC battery I didn't know where to place it. I just let it lie just below the case fan.

When I went to connect a 40-pin cable to the GPIO connector I found out the connector was too large to fit through the slot next to the fan. Luckily I had another cable that I bought for my Pi 4 that had a smaller connector that fit through the slot. After that top of the case still would not stay in place because of the cable.

Note I boot the Pi 5 from a 64GB flash drive. That is faster than booting from a microSD card.

I like the look of the PIBOW cases. The open nature results in good cooling. And they usually have good access to the GPIO header. You need a booster header with the Pi 5 PIBOW though, if you add the active cooler. I went NVMe. My Pi 5 boots up in a snap and apps open quickly. =-)

EDIT: The official case, too me, looks to be not so good airflow /cooling wise.
