Pimoroni order arrived today. Decided to test my Encoder Wheel breakout.
    RGB Encoder Wheel Breakout

The Pimoroni examples will do it for you, but not how I want to do it. The LED Ring examples go all fancy with rainbow colors. Thats great but it makes it hard to spot a dead LED. One red not working or one green etc. The other two will light up and give you a color, just not the right color. It took a while but I did up my own file that lights up all the Red, then all the Green, then all the Blue, then lights them all up White. All good. Buttons and encoder wheel checked out OK too. I'm gotten Unicorn Hat HD's where one of the Led's was RG instead of RGB.
interesting ,maybe in the new-year I'll try to get back into it a bit!

I've been working on this all morning, cutting, grinding, soldering, testing.

I had to cut down a proto board to mount the Encoder too. The bottom of the OLED display is just above the top of the encoder wheel. The part that display the graphics. I was worried that the knob would block the display. Everything tests OK so far. Need to take a break though, neck and shoulders are killing me.

EDIT. ops, it's not an Explorer, its an Inventor 2040W, Pico W onboard. Forgot to edit that part of my test file.

Yeah, I see that now with the side view. Those rubber feet are some of my recycled bits. They keep it from sliding around on my desk.
Carolyn has to take B12 injections. It comes in a little glass bottle with a rubber stopper in the end that the hypodermic needle goes through to get the liquid B12. I save the bottles and remove the rubber stoppers.

Very nice! Spiffy even! I think I need one of those Inventor boards.

After I get my Pi4 working with my status display, of course. One project at a time...

And what the heck is that? A clean desk? I have not seen the top of my desk in months.

The rest of the desk isn't that clean. I just pushed some stuff aside.

Won't be doing any mechanical tinkering / fabricating for a few days. I had to get a cortisone shot in my left elbow for persistent tendinitis. The shot itself didn't hurt all that much. But its very very painful right now. That should go away in a day or two. Until then, software only. I want to do some Micro python coding on my new Inventor build though. I'll just have to type with one hand, lol. I'm right handed but do a lot of thiongs with my left hand when tinkering on hardware.

@ Catnip. I'ts no fun unless you have several half backed, half done projects kicking around.

Been at this for hours. I thought it would be an easy port of existing code for the smaller OLED I originally had been using. It was a non Pimoroni OLED and the library commands were all different. I had to edit it all over to use Pimoroni Pico Graphics. I made good progress though. It's now displaying the Encoder Knob Position. Next step will be to connect a servo and have it move when the Encoder knob is turned. Something like that. I likely won't do that until tomorrow some time. I'll take a pic then, and post it here.
