Sat here today and came across something to show how the world has changed ...

on 29 May 1953 everest was climbed for the first time, and announced for the first time officially a few days later on the morning of the current British Queens coronation This was just under 70 years ago .

Today I came across this image ...

a relatively short time ago reaching the summit of the worlds highest point was a real achievement - now it appears to be a run of the mill tourist event

@Wynona, you probably should get Star Ferret tested, even if you are not in Florida

I saw that, Cliff. However, StarFerret never leaves the house, and so far, I haven't had COVID. And, I'm fully vaccinated and plan to get the booster as soon as I can make an appointment.

Just bought (from a friend) am oldish laptop HP 630 for about 50 bucks. There was no HDD so I installed my old Kingston 120GB SSD. Installed W10 (has sticker for W7 OEM). Had some trouble making USB BOOT installation disk. it kept telling me that USB was for UEFI so had to use Rufus set for legacy BIOS only. Installed fine with no drivers missing, Now updating windows and Store.

I am furious with the BBC for ruining the remembrance day service marching session. As various sections of the armed forces etc walked past the cenotaph, they kept switching to a stupid reporter interviewing people on so called "human interest" stories.

My dear friend is really upset as her son was marching for the Gordon Higlanders and we never even saw them.

These stories could have been dione after the March.

They spent more time focussing on peripheral organisations but barely showed the major armed forces platoon etc.

I am saddened to see the decline of the BBC to such low levels.

I have made a formal complaint and insisted on a response. I bet they show no respect.

If I was allowed, I would no longer pay for a TV licence after this shameful farce.

It was done properly on Sky News except for the ad break they took at midday.
