Scientific mode is respecting the precedence of operators. Standard is doing math in Western Reading Order mode, like a person reading or talking. Ex: 2+2, *4. Normal mode on a calculator does not know the *4 is coming last so processes in the order input..... serial.

I love RPN but it would not solve it.

2 enter, 2 enter, 4 enter, plus, times will give 16 (just tested it).

You would have to do it as

2 enter, 4 enter, times, 2 enter, plus to get 10 i.e. you would have to use BODMAS convention even in RPN.

Admittedly RPN was used mostly amongst the scientific community who largely respected BODMAS convention.
