    Two huge trees being removed

My sisters needed to have two huge cottonwood trees in bad shape removed since they have taken direct hits from tornadoes and lightening over the years. It just wasn't safe to keep them anymore.

The biggest tree has a trunk 6 feet wide and very tall. The tree removers had to use a 110' crane.

    Here are some pics:

It's surprising those trees had managed to get that tall will all the tornadoes in the area.

    I'm surprised as well.

In the 2013 F5 tornado that completely wiped clean the two streets behind my sisters house, the trees had cars smashed into them from the tornado debris. Didn't phase the trees one bit, but an engine block still left a hole in the roof. Better than the cars though.

Wow...and the "Oz" bunker with it's tornado icon I thought helps tell this story as well. Surrender Dorothy indeed.

Better safely prepared than sorry for sure.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. ;o)

That's a good load of logs she has there, glad she got them taken down safely. I know how she feels having trees towering above the house I'm in the same boat.

Here's how much mulch mess was made when grinding one of the stumps.

Wow, Shawn! That was some "takedown"!

My mom had a huge cottonwood in her front yard years ago. The thing died and they had to take it down, but I don't think it was quite as big as those.

    Nice pictures!
