Here are some pictures I've take recently with my, new to me, Nikon D90. I got it a few months ago to kill time and to have fun..

Awww Nice pictures! Does the lens handle the night sky well? Last time I used a DSLR camera was on a school project, but they are sooo expensive, especially the lenses, to shoot the northern auroras where I live.

I need a much better tripod to take night pictures and the one I have is junk. I used a Nikon 18-200mm lens for all of those images. All of my gear is lightly used and I got it off of Ebay. I saved loads and all of it works great. The last image of the three is of a fire hydrant near my girlfriends place. I modified it in Photoshop to get the effect I wanted.

Try to find used gear. I got a nice D90 from Nikon and it's amazing.

One more for today.. the same fire hydrant but from a different angle and I masked out the color for all the bits but not the fire hydrant.
