Remember, if MS built cars, you'd have to press the start button to turn the car off. Eh?

Years ago, there was MS DOS. There was also IBM DOS, and DR DOS, but for some weird reason, MS DOS became the defacto OS for Home Computers. At the time is was just a matter of "ya have to go with the flow", and the flow seemed to be going with Microsoft.

I've not been able to Dump windows for a more favorable OS, but I have definitely dumped MS Office for Open Office, a much nicer Office alternative.

    Cheers mate!

Mostly. There will be more-advanced features that won't work such as complex Macros. I use LibreOffice as it supports some file types that OO started leaving out back in later Version 3 and Version 4.

And don't mix up OpenOffice with Google Chrome different types of programs. But maybe you mean Google Docs?

Nice thing about LibreOffice is it is cross-platform, has versions for Linux and Mac OS X and the newer macOS.

I was not aware MS needed permission from you to retain the W8 Start Button?

You must be a major shareholder?

I see I have been beaten to this point by the "Gaffer".
