What new toy/gadget have you acquired recently?

After Seb posted a pic of his new hiking bag over on the Today thread, I decided to start this thread for people to post about their new toys. What new toys or gadgets have you gotten lately?
My latest tech gadget is one of these: Zalman VE-400. At first glance it looks like an ordinary external drive enclosure for a 2.5" disk. However, it has one capability that makes it stand out when compared to other enclosures.
This external drive can also emulate an optical drive. I can copy ISOs to the drive, then I can load one of the ISOs and treat the drive as a BOOTABLE optical drive. For instance, let's say I wish to install Win 7 on a machine. I just load the Win 7 installer ISO, set the drive to be the first in the boot order, then boot from this drive and install just like I had the actual installer DVD in a DVD drive.
Now, instead of carrying around a stack of CDs to be able to do installs and or repairs, I simply carry this small drive with all my ISOs on it. Want to add a new ISO, simply copy the ISO to the drive and it's now available, no setup needed. The drive supports Windows, Linux and Mac. I have a 160GB drive in mine and have dozens of ISOs on there with plenty of room for more.
Don't confuse this with software like Daemon Tools that will allow you too mount an ISO. That type of software can't be used to BOOT from as it only runs AFTER the OS has been booted.

Yep I found it while walking around Currys looking for toys

I got my original HP Desktop from Curry's who now incorporate PC World as we know and it's still going strong after 4 years.
It had a 500GB and a 160Gb drive in it and I changed the 500 for a 1TB that was housed in an external unit when the interface packed up.

I recently decided to get rid of my home phone service, this started a domino effect that benefited Amazon most
So, 1st I purchased a MagicJack Plus, for the price of one months phone service (unless I made toll calls), I get a years worth of service, and kept my home number.
Then I realized the batteries in my ancient phone were dead, so rather then replace them, time for a new phone.
So, the day they arrive, for some reason, I can't get on the internet. After some testing, I finally disconnect my router, and connect straight to my modem, and Voilą, back online. Now mind, I only have the one PC hooked to the router, I only got it for the NAT firewall, so all this time I haven't actually needed it.
Well, since the MJ+ connects straight to a router, I now actually need one. So, back to Amazon where (after researching routers online, and realizing there are few if any wired only routers) I purchased a new router. Since it was also wireless, and my work laptop uses the slowest 4G imaginable, I connected wireless to my new router, and lo and behold, I had speed on the work laptop too.
All in all, some nice upgrades, and the MJ+ will save me about $450 in the 1st year. That Asus router is also quite good looking

Good luck with the MJ+. I had a MJ and it worked OK but I "upgraded" since I liked the idea of the MJ+ in that it didn't need to plug into a PC. The MJ+ turned out to be useless as it would disconnect during a call with no indication whatsoever. I wouldn't be aware it disconnected until I realized that the party on the other end wasn't saying anything.

My Mom has had one for a while, and hers always works. I see where people have issues with MJ+ 2014. It has wireless features. I got an older one

The MJ+ I had was one of the earliest ones from when they were first introduced. A buddy of mine also bought the MJ+ but returned it immediately since it didn't work as well for him as his MJ. He recently dumped his MJ because it became very noisy and unreliable.

I just wanted to have some home phone, and keep my number for people who may have it still. A Guy
