We only got National TV here in India in the year 1982 with the Asian Games held herre that year.

We got our first colour TV for the 1972 Summer Olympics.

Yes, 1970 first PAL here too but old B/W was still going in 1974 when I left, don't know how long it was but when I returned in 1997 my uncle was still running an old TV set in B/W.
The color program broadcasting started in 1966 (in Slovenia - part of YU), not all of it, and the most of us didn't get color TV until 70's.

watching a doc on Russia from Above yesterday. Nomadic herdsmen collected their mother from her house to follow the herd into summer pastures. They also took all of her belongings, including the Satellite dish!!

I remember the B&W BBC test card. Wasn't it accompanied with a continuous beep sound?
