    What is the hard drive letter for Macintosh?

    Do Macintosh use the same letters as Windows? I heard its call root, so if an addition drive is inserted, what is it call? Macintosh HD 2? How many slots does Mac can only accept? Whereas Windows can accept only 24 slots.

    I don't know if this helps =>
    What is the reason for OSX not specifying the drive letter where the file is stored, like Windows?

    Not knowing which Mac you are referring to I can only add that Mac OS X has been replaced by macOS in the last year or two, my MacBook Pro [mid-2010] drive controller failed over a year ago as I was trying to Upgrade to macOS so it's gone.

    As for Windows accepting more drives, a lot depends upon support from the motherboard, probably would see more than 6 or 8 on Server boards along with 2 or more CPUs such as Intel Zeon. The highest number possible I've seen on consumer boards was 6. Even then the size of the case becomes important in housing that many drives.

    Another thing is whether out of the 26 drive letters available the BIOS reserves/supports A and B floppy drives which will limit the OS to 24 drives but [and I've not needed to try] there reportedly is a procedure for using double letters such as CC for more drives. Newer BIOSes don't work with floppy drives, boards don't have the connection port for them, in which case an External USB 3.5" drive would be needed [I have a couple along with a couple of ODDs].
