    Things Windows 10 does well

    Hi,

I used every version of Windows so far. Yes, even 1 and 2, although they were mostly curiosities and not actually usable. And I also used just about any other OS. But I cannot think of a single thing Windows 10 does well.

I have been a programmer / project leader by trade, for a long time. And while the amount of bugs kept on increasing, the users (yes, you!) had less and less understanding. Nowadays, everyone expects software to suck, and you're a hero if you can tell people how to circumvent a bug.

Like, search in explorer not working in 1909+. The offered solution: start task manager and restart explorer. But that is definitely not a solution. It is a frustrating work-around. And you also have to do that (for any version from Windows 8+) if something changes in the directory you're watching.

Ok, it is irritating enough that your selection is removed every time Windows thinks something changes, but it is more irritating that you have to kill and restart the explorer every hour or so, because it won't show the actual content of the directory anymore.

Microsoft, choose: either show the actual contents at all times, or don't. And keep the selection the user made! If you make something, make sure it actually works! Or remove it. And those are just two of my very long list of gripes.

Unfortunately, most employees at Microsoft are managers. And while the technicians they hired were the very best in the past, today they're the cheapest they can get. And while they valued backwards compatibility and a good user experience in the past, they first moved their whole testing and customer support departments to India a few years ago, and last year they killed both. The manager orders, the technician programs, and the user gets all the bugs.

So, there is no testing or error correction. There is just a humongous amount of managers telling the few, not-so-smart technicians what to do. And they all want them to do something else. That's why you're a manager, right?

And while any other company would have been bankrupt by now, their monopoly holds quite well. Simply because very few people have experience with something else. It is just how it is. It might suck, but you have to learn to live with it. And if you can help people who panic, more power to you.

It is ironic, that Microsoft just killed most products and educations for their non-Cloud products. You know, the things that decide the value of all those helpful people.

Anyway, prove me wrong. Tell me about the things Microsoft and Windows 10 do well! Because I cannot think of any. And I do have to tell customers that they get a great deal.

Welcome to the Windows 10 forum.
Being your 1st message sound like you are just venting your dislike of Windows 10.

Are you wanting someone to agree with you or just not say anything?

Please clarify your message purpose because I don't see anything of substance from your comments.

Looks like millions of others all over the world already have.

Not up to us to tell you how to support your customers or business. If that's not possible for you, look to another OS to promote/support.

I think you've come to the wrong place if you want some support for Microsoft and/or Windows 10 bashing.

Windows XP was almost as good as Windows 2000, which was almost as good as Windows NT 3.5.

And you are right, I don't require computer assistance. I do want to vent. While this forum is the best resource there is to work around the frustrations, it has a high "hero" content: everyone tries to help others working around all the Microsoft frustrations. Which is great.

But almost everyone here expects that you have to use Windows 10. Because that's what everyone else does, and it is installed on the computer you buy. The choice is between Windows 10 and Apple. That's it. And, it isn't that they **** you up! It's mostly that they are God and you don't understand.

Hint: they do **** you up. And you bend over and take it because that's what you expect.

Do you have an example? Or are you saying that millions of people cannot be wrong?

Well, I would be very happy if I could get rid of Microsoft, but almost everyone else thinks they are the best (or only) thing since sliced bread. So, I do try to understand. But it is hard. I don't get it.

Windows 10 works well for me. Does what I need. A lot of people griped about 8.1; but it worked well for me, did what I needed. Even more people griped about Vista; but it worked for me, did what I needed.

And the even better news for the OP: no one is forcing you to use Microsoft or Windows. Move to an alternative, lots of people love Apple products, go there and be happy.

I've used every version of Windows going back to Windows 95. None were perfect but for the most part they worked and this forum and its predecessors (7 Forums, 8 Forums etc.) were always of great assistance. Never really found a reason to outright bash the OS's, just learned to work with them and learned what I needed to.

Some people like watching reality shows. I don't so I don't watch them. None of us lose any sleep over it.

I've used every version of Windows as well. Am perfectly happy with Windows 10. It's been a very solid system for me. My son from the age of 9 to 12 managed to keep his Windows 10 box running without a single OS reinstall. It just worked.

Windows 7 was a very solid OS for me as well, but Windows 10 has been an overall better experience for me. I'm a 23 year IT veteran, supporting Windows and Linux.

Choice is subjective, criticism is objective,i.e. fact based, which is missing from your posts.
Please provide a list of your preferred systems, thus permitting we Win10 supporters to be as equally objective in return.

Windows 10 is good value when you consider you get updates for the life of an OEM PC or much longer if you have a retail licence. I do agree their software QA ca be poor. I assume they have software QA accreditations in which case better auditing would be a good idea.
