I went to see Jamie this afternoon. One of the nurses at Baptist Hospital plays pool with us on our league, so Val and I met with her when we got there.

We have some fairly good news to report.

Jamie is stable and things are looking good for her to get back to where she was before the stroke. I understand there's a ways to go, but complete recovery is the ultimate goal, and we can wait. Although I'm not so sure Jamie won't be chomping at the bit!

Even with encouraging news, it's so hard to see someone you genuinely care for lying so quietly in the bed with tubes. I saw that she's had some kind of surgery to relieve pressure and drain the "brain bleed". I didn't see any blood in the drain tube, which is also good.

I'm hoping and praying for the best. If any one deserves it, it's Jamie. She's a strong person and a fighter, which makes me believe in her recovery.

My mother had a stroke in 1978. She made a complete recovery, even going on holidays abroad with her friends afterwards.
