That's the plan, Bob; 500 GB SSD and probably extra 16 GB RAM (that'll make 24 GB; anyone need a 4 GB stick?) and spinner relegated to data.

But no, haven't done it yet. That'll leave my new 4 TB Seagate external for backups!

Still lots to do to customize this new beastie, but I'll eventually get there.

Doing a clone booted from rescue media.

Don't think it is bad Macrium install as I reinstalled. Maybe bad Macrium patch. Could be speed of SSD in this very old box.

Will likely never know.

The restore to SSD just failed. Oh well I will try clone.

Hmmm.....

Pretty sure this is a hardware issue, old age, of system.

I can't even clone to SSD if the SSD is installed in machine. Put the spinner in machine and clone to ssd in caddy and it looks like it works.

Hope this works. Still a pain to restore each time I lend out. Have to disassemble and move SSD to caddy.

Have to keep my eye open for a newer loaner.
