Absotively and posolutely, UNbelievable! Keith!
I would never thunk in a couple million years that Fast Startup would be the cause of all this pain! But now that I think on it . . .
At any rate, I saw your post, thought about it and decided TC's solution was more likely to produce results. In the back of my mind, I reserved turning off Fast Startup as a last ditch effort before I tore this computer apart!
Well, if you've been following my posts, you'll know I got to the point of that "last ditch effort" and it worked!
I now see the dual boot screen every time I boot the computer, no matter if I've been working within Production or Fast/Skip.
Thank you and TC both. Although this is the first time Fast Startup did me in, I'm done with it!
I need to relearn that sometimes the simple solutions work! That's not to say TC's help isn't appreciated. I now know a lot more than I did this morning!
@Wynona - just an FYI....
"At this point, if I shut down and reboot from Production, it invariably boots to Production without showing the dual boot screen. If I hold down the shift key, then shut down, the next startup goes into the dual boot screen, but not on the second reboot."
Reason for this is, when you hold the shift key when doing a shutdown, the system bypasses writing to hiberfil.sys, the file it uses for Fast Startup. Therefore the only choice the system has is to present you with the Boot Menu. More to it than that, but the SHIFT+Shutdown is equivalent to a one-time boot without Fast Startup active, even if enabled.
