AskWoody Master Patch List No Longer Free?

    Master Patch List @ AskWoody

I am not interested in debating nickels and dimes but rather since it has been some months since I checked the master past list I was wondering when it became by "subscription" only. If I had to guess it would appear that April was the last time that the patches were listed without subscription. I know about the MS catalog but there are no witty remarks there.TIA.

Since this appears to be an AskWoody issue, I suggest you ask Woody. Not trying to be flip, but this is a vendor issue. Nothing we can do here except commiserate.

It appears to me that since the merge with Windows Secrets their monthly costs have gone up more than anticipated.

Hmm. I've never heard of Windows Secrets before. Was the content on the Windows Secrets page for pay? I am certainly not begrudging anyone for asking for compensation for their work it's just makes me nostalgic when "Another One Bites the Dust."

Anyone know of another place that comments on Windows "subscriptions" and patch "Tuesday" and advises when the update has been thoroughly tested?

No, although most all forums and open-source program sites have a place where one can donate to help keep things working.

Patch Watch and newsletters were for paying customers only. Forums were free.

AskWoody membership is by donation: you get to decide how much you want to pay to become a Plus Member.

Regardless of all the good comments posted, AskWoody is a paid help site, no matter what term you use for it. Required donations for the stuff that used to be free, is nothing more than a play on words, and is a paid subscription. And, apparently, according to the site info using the links posted above, this "donation" subscription is not a one time shot. You must continue to "donate" to renew the subscription. No timelines were given.

    Excerpt from site:

    "
When does my Plus subscription expire?
For now, you can either log in, click on My account (upper right corner), then click Subscriptions, or you can write directly to CustomerSupport@AskWoody.com. We’re working on an extension that’ll make it much simpler to see when your subscription ends, and to renew."

I'm not nit-picking anyone's choice of what to use or where to go on the Web, but since this is, IMO, a competitive site to our Tenforums and sister sites, the discussion should not even be here.

    Hi,
Fun fact woodie was also banned by this forums owner

Kind of though it was against forum rules to even post links to woodie's site.

I am talking about the link that I posted above:

Master Patch List – April 2019 @ AskWoody

This info was never only for paying customers. And as I mentioned it seemed to end in April. Maybe the terms Patch Watch and Master Patch List are two separate entities.
