You won't find anything that cheap Wynona, with Windows 10 Pro on it. Unless its used, and it would still cost more than 500.
Double that price and you might.....maybe.
My secret, Mike, is to generally go one or two generations behind. Almost as good and much cheaper.

buying brand will get you Windows cheaper. But Windows pro systems start with $600 mark. Same if you build it yourself.

    Not everybody need i7-xx Mike.

Can get decent system for about 650$ from Dell, or self built.

Should we put some real necessary parts together for Wynona? Maybe starting a new thread "$600 system build for advanced (non gamer) user"?

I'll start with processor, chipset etc:

Motherboard: z370 or B360 intel chipset, first for fast RAM and later , if that doesn't matter.
ASUS Z370-A prime for $140, or B360 chipset for $80
Processor Intel i5-9400 for about 200.
(if graphic card is available, i3-9100f is below 100$ mark)
    RAM 16 GB - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3000 MHz DDR4 75$
    SSD - 500 GB M2 PCIE Samsung 970 - 100$
    housing and power supply 100
    ------------------
    total: from $450 (i3 - B360) to $615 (i5 - Z370)
    ---------------------------------------------------
missing money for Windows 10 ??

Going brand way... Dell Optiplex 3060 with i5-8500 (I would wait for 9400) - 660$
    + 8 GB RAM 35$
    + SSD 500 GB 100$
    ------------
    $800
Thanks, Andre. Looks like I'm gonna spend more moolah than I want to, but I deserve it!

After looking, I figured I would.

What about refurb? Anyone got thoughts about that?

Could be different USB tech but all appear to be USB2.0 drives and ports.
    @Wynona re refurbisned.

I don't think Wynona can build her own system Andre ....she is looking for one already built.
So Dell, Acer or an HP would be best choices. I'm not a real big fan of anything Dell makes....but that's just me.

Just going to cost more than 500 bucks.

Looking at her spec's the system she has now is AMD by HP ....so AMD chips are much cheaper than Intel.
What you talkin' 'bout, Mike! I've been building my own systems since the second half of the 80s!

It's just gotten to be too much of a pain in da butt since I've gotten older. I will build if I have to, but I really don't want to.

    Morning and afternoon folks.

Really cool wind here today, really feels like fall.

@Wynona, I would not be afraid of a refurb'ed machine. I've bought eight over the years, think the oldest is at least six years old, and not a single failure of any kind. I get from Staples, sort of like Office Max. Heck some come with a three year warranty up here and that is better than when it was bought new. With Staples, up here you have fourteen days to return no questions asked. One I did return as it was obvious it was not refurbished. They sent another machine that had better specs for no additional money. So far the machines have worked very well and they look new.

My most recent was a i3, 8GB, Win Pro with small SSD. They had i7's with 16GB under $500
Thanks, TC, oops, I mean Ken! I'll give those a look, then.

My current HP was in really sad shape when I bought it new and direct from HP. But they honored the warranty and I've not had another bit of trouble with it.
