PS. I almost ended up living in Indonesia as in 1950s my father was proposed to be a military attache to Yugoslav embassy.

You misunderstood something, I didn't live in Indonesia as my father had to refuse post because I was too young and my grandmother had to live with us. He was Yugoslav army officer and at that time Sukarno and our Tito were great palls. Yugoslavia and Indonesia were some of starters of non-aligned countries policy.

Yes that's how it was, Yugoslavia split in 1991 on borders of former republics and province of Kosovo which was separated from whatever was left of Yugoslavia and was part of Serbia in 1999 by NATO after heavy bombing of Serbia. It declared independence but most countries, UN and other world organizations don't recognize it. Still big tensions about it.
