A bit of a "flame" war brewing on the Pi forum. Raspberry Pi 4 temperature - Raspberry Pi Forums
No ventilation in the official case has been my complaint from the day it was released. You can't even take the sides off of the new one. Its just a two piece design.
It looks like thermals are going to be an issue with the new Pi 4B. I ordered a heatsink with mine. Will also be getting a fan shim at some point. I have a box somewhere with old motherboard heatsinks. I'm going to see if one of the smaller northbridge chip-set heatsinks make work / fit. Once I get my 4B. I'll be using the Pibow coupe case so how tall the heatsink is isn't a big deal. Not until I try to put a hat on top anyway. I can always take it back off and swap in a lower profile one. I'll just stick it on with a double sided sticky thermal pad. I bought a sheet of the stuff from Adafruit a while back.

thought i would try getting my adafruit captive touch hat ,Adafruit Capacitive Touch HAT for Raspberry Pi - Mini Kit [MPR121] ID: 2340 - $14.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits .but they got me pulling my hair out ,still!
because of there circuit python ,i cant get it all installed like i did wayback ,and i formated the sd card by mistake a few months ago, tried then ,got it to work with another bit of code from a inscrutable project.
To get it to work github has all the steps but it so confusing to follow .
GitHub - adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_MPR121: Adafruit CircuitPython module for the MPR121 capacitive touch breakout board.

I feel your pain, I go through a similar routine to get my (Adafruit) DS3231 RTC modules to work. And its so easy to make a typo and have to start all over from scratch. Run this, edit this, etc.

I have mixed feelings about Circuit Python. I'm not all that keen to run it on a Raspberry Pi, I'd rather stick with the original Python. On the other side of the coin, it does let me run (Micro) Python on things like my BBC Micro Bit and other micro controlers. Saves me from having to learn C, maybe, sometimes?

That sucks, I've had to go hunting for old Adafruit tutorials in the past. A BMP180 board I bought years ago from them. It doesn't show up on thier site unless you search for it. Then it shows as discontinued. Links to the tutorial worked though last time I tried it.
One thing you can try is Google the chip number for the chip they used on that board. I've done that in the past to find python code for stuff they only list Arduino code for. My Si1445 for example.
