They must be backlogged with orders, still hasn't shipped. I'm not complaining mind you. I'm just happy to have snagged a 4 gig model.

I think I'll have to wait for a few months to get one

    On the new Pi 4

USB is provided via an external VLI controller, connected over a single PCI Express Gen 2 lane, and providing a total of 4Gbps of bandwidth, shared between the four ports.

Thats "almost" full speed, if you use just one USB 3 port. The USB 3 spec is I believe 5Gbps. Thats not to shabby and a lot better than the Pi 3B's 4 ports into the 1 USB 2 shared with Ethernet.
The speed will be more usable now for NAS users...

All in all its areally nice upgarde. Thermals may be an issue, the SOC does get hot. Your going to want a heatsink so it doesn't auto throttle.
I ordered a Pibow coupe which has a nice open top, and the big heatsink. I might even for the first time add a cooling fan.
People on the Pi forum are already asking about a + version. Its kind of pissing some of the Pi Foundation people off.
We gave you new, and now you want new new,

The A+ will probably have an integrated hook up for CPU cooler...
I think that is one major game changer for the pi for it to perform a lot better during long term use.

"whilst allowing access to all its ports and PINs." Something has to give (be unplugged) to open it, I would think? Nice looking case though. And cutouts on top where the logo is to let some of the heat out.
If the Pi is bolted to the top bottom part how do you access the GPIO? Ribbon cable would likely fit if you leave the slidey part off. Might be tricky plugging it in though. And your going to have to unplug stuff to remove the slidey bit.

No worse than the official Pi case though, the 3B version has all kinds of removable bits on the sides and top. I don't think that worked out like they planed though as the new Pi 4 version looks to be only two pieces. A top and a bottom. I have to admit to liking the black one more than the white orange one.

On the Pi foundation forum, some will go on and on about how you don't need a CPU cooler, it can never overheat. That is true to an extent. It just throttles back the CPU clock to keep the temps below the not good threshold. That costs you some performance though so guess what, people add heatsinks and fans so they can get max speed with extended use. I got ragged on because I mentioned that I put heatsinks on my Pi Zero's. I do it more for looks than anything else. and heatsinks are cheap. The Zero looks really nice in a Red Pibow with a black heatsink. IMHO anyway.
Other than the color, white orange, my biggest beef with the official Pi foundation case is absolutely no ventilation. Not if you put all the covers on. I have a black one and the first thing I did was drill some holes in it to let air in and out.
My 3A+'s are all in the Pibow Coupe cases. They have a nice open top that still protects the Pi. And a cutout for a heatsink.
