Jack this is what I saw with the nigh Vision at 6:15 AM this morning through my living room window. The Sun shines on that window in the morning. I'll take another one when the Sun is over the back of the house and one when its dark out. Kind of what I was expecting, looks like the color is turned down and contrast tuned up.

    Attachment 235324

Its a screen capture with the snipping tool. It shouldn't be any different than taking a still with the actual camera. Just a lot easier to with the snipping tool.
I'll take some more pictures with a regular camera to morrow for comparison.

The camera module in the bag I gave you with the red sharpie ink on the connector is the one made from parts of two cameras. The other one is an original version 1. I had that one for a long time, not used all that much though.

Just snipped this one, suns on the back of the house now and its overcast. Picture quality is good, as it should be, I think that camera is 5 megapixel?
Colors are just a little washed out. Green mostly it seems? The grass looks whiteish. I can see the black, red, and blue OK in the image, and a hint of yellow in the bush. It is what I was expecting for a night vision camera, compromises need to be made to get that functionality. I wanted a look see to decide if I want to go that route. I think if I do it I'll have two cameras pointed that way. One normal and one night vision.

Yeah, I "think" the way it works is it displays non visable light as visibal light. It translats IR into a viewable image. That skews the colors somewhat. It will be intersting to see what it looks like when it gets dark. I'll have to wait till 10 PM or so I guess.

got a camera showing on my Pi3b+ hooked to my official pi lcd ,but it plays for about 4 or 5 seconds ,then freeezes for a bit and repeats ,had it showing on my windows computer at the same time and it was ok ,so i guess the pi isn't fast enough to show it

The night vision camera took a selfie It was mounted to the inside of my picture window with cup hooks. A temporary setup.
When the IR LEDs turned on it must have just glared off of the glass? That or a UV coating or something reflected it back. It looks like what it saw was its own reflection in the second outer pane of glass?

If you were looking at the feed in a browser window, yeah, the Pi / Raspbian isn't likely fast enough to keep up. My first try of Motion Eye was on a Pi Zero, it was painful, it just wasn't up to streaming live video. I was trying to build my own version of Pimoroni's Octocam. Switched to a 3B and things were not to bad. Most of my Motion Eye setups are 3A+'s now. I have one 3B that has that mini spy camera on it. It was sitting there doing nothing and the case it was in made it easy to mount the camera on a piece of coat hanger. Long piece of wire really once you cut it and bend it the way you want.

I set that night vision camera up temporarily in my living room. I took a couple of pictures but must have accidentally deleted them or saved them to the wrong folder? Anyway I could make out most of the room, was all 50 shades of grey though lol. Nothing like what you see in the movies etc. I was going to set it up outside in the dark but got sidetracked on something else tonight. You can come and get it any time you want though Jack. I'm probably not going to buy one. Not something I really need. It was nice to try before you buy so I do thank you for that.

Jack, did you get anywhere with your rover build? Just wondering? I have never ever got a four wheeler version to work? Tow wheel, two wheel dive no problem. Add two more wheels and it just doesn't work as advertised?
