I also got the "ghost" update... clicked to install it, it checked for updates, gave an error.... clicked Retry and it said up to date

You've got a messed up Edge! Maybe there is some cross-pollination with the Beta Edge. That is all screwed up. Mine looks like:

Working fine here. Both of them Give them a restart... And clean the Edge's cache

I have tried removing Edge (success) and reinstalling it also. Rebooted between the remove and install. I even tried removing and deleting the entire folder from appdata/local/packages...... no dice. Still that same look. I hardly ever use it, I was just checking stuff and noticed it.

Nothing I tried can fix it, but like I said... I do not use the regular old edge. I have Opera for things outside of my normal browsing.
