I’m watching the ski jumping as I write.A Guy, post: 14503, member: 22 said:
I remember watching Eddie at Calgary in ’88. Too bad there isn’t a gold medal for perseverance. He would have gotten it. Got to hand it to a guy that was really too physically big for the sport. 20 pounds heavier than the average jumper. Might as well put skis on a rock.
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/201...cs-ski-jumpingOn top of the monetary concerns, Edwards had worries about his sporting life. Wearing six pairs of socks to make his second-hand boots fit, and a helmet tied on with a piece of string as it was too big for him – on one landing his helmet fell off, before the Italy team kindly provided him with a better fit – Edwards also had the problem of far-sightedness, which meant he had to wear glasses while jumping. "Sometimes I take off, and I can't see where I'm going," admitted a rather blasé Edwards, who didn't seem at all concerned that his glasses misted up in mid-air and restricted his vision. Sheer madness.
Poland just took the gold in the men’s jumping. Not sure, but I don't think the Americans even placed this time around.
Thanks. I should have been watching more TV and less writing.rvbfan, post: 14611, member: 56 said:
