Got a lot accomplished again today.

I started out to mulch last year's leaves, but there was a lot of deadfall from the trees, so I decided it needed to go into the burn barrel, but after the tree fell over it last month, I moved it to a better spot, but a tree was too close, so . . . well you get the picture of the typical Wynona's day . . .

So, I decided to take down the tree that was in the way. Key word here is "was". I notched it on the side it was supposed to fall toward, but it had other ideas. When I was almost all the way through, it kept pinching my chainsaw, so although I needed to make some adjustments, things were too far along for that. Once I stopped sawing, I noticed the saw kerf was closing up, rather than widening as it should have with the large notch I'd cut. The problem was that the tree was leaning slightly the wrong way.

OK, back to the drawing board. If I tie a very, very long rope way up above where I was cutting, tie that to the trailer hitch on my car, maybe . . . Yep, it worked; I inched ever so slowly forward and the tree fell just where I aimed it. That was the easy part.

So, using the chain saw, I chopped it all up and used it to fill in a small gully that keeps filling up with water. It'll slowly decompose and make new soil. I'll keep adding leaves and stuff to it so eventually it will be a level space.

I'm rather proud of me; I can still do what I need to without having to ask for help!
Evenin' Wynona, another day - another fine adventure in the books.

I know, Bob, but it was worth it! I've been wanting that tree down so I can burn all the cardboard boxes and stuff for a long time, but it was too cold to get out.

And, it's gonna turn back to wintertime tomorrow and Sunday again! Weather Channel says we'll only get up to 55° tomorrow and maybe 61° Sunday.

The supervisors have me trained; they get all the good stuff and I get all the work.
