My Dad was born right before the great depression, my Mom before the war with Germany, so this probably explains why they spread out their assets between 3 banks as well as various investments tween said banks too. It's kind of like a scavenger hunt at this point with things I didn't know they had popping up.

Just a few years ago there was a limitation on how much was insured in a bank and yes there are still banks going under.

Yepperz, there are limitations & not only banks, but companies also. Scary, I can see why they diversified. Imagine what a kick in the groin it must be to go to your bank where all your money is & there;s a CLOSED OUT OF BUSINESS sign on it
