So far, I haven't found a satisfactory way to change everything to an eye pleasing medium gray. Everything's a mishmash of this and that theme and nothing works together.

If you watch the games today, hang on to your food, don't want to end up like this guy....

I use the wide dark theme here. Bright lights bother me as well but not as bad as AD.

If you have Nvidia drivers, and I think you do, try setting the gamma down to .90 or .85. It's all in the Control Panel. Here's mine.
