Went to a walk today, late afternoon. Took some trash with me to bring to recycling bins, which will be emptied tomorrow morning. In plastic waste bin, there was a huge black sack preventing the lid to close. Trying to push it deeper, I noticed it was pretty light, probably full of cans.
Interested, took it out and opened the knot, as someone had tied it using the sack corners. It was full of beer and soda cans. Without thinking, I took it with me and went to my local supermarket, thinking that each can is worth €0.25. People looked and laughed at me, a walking stick in one hand, carrying a huge black sack over a shoulder, a cigarette hanging between the lips. Luckily, it's only about 500 meters to my supermarket. a six or seven minute walk.
Anyway, got some milk and bread and a few beers, and over €20 cash. There were 124 cans in the sack, of those 9 were not accepted due being foreign. Anyway, 115 * 0.25 = €28.75, just enough to not let being a laughing stock during that short walk to supermarket bother me!

Well done to you Kari, that was a nice haul. Over here they just have to go into the recycle bag and we get nothing for them.
Here, beer, water and soda bottles up to 0.5 litre give you 8 Euro cents, bigger bottles and all cans 25 cents. All shops selling any beverages are required to receive them.
Some time ago, some shops and markets tried to enforce a policy to only give you shop credits but no cash, but as it is clearly against the recycling laws, it did not work. Now you simply bring your bottles and cans to any shop selling beverages and get cash, without obligation to use it in that shop.
Angie, my fourth and hopefully last ex-wife, often joked that I would make a good living just by returning my empty beer bottles and cans on a weekly basis.
No such luck here, mind you, we don't have any alcohol here. I only drink coffee and hubby drinks either water or diet coke so all those cans just go into the recycle bags, the water is either from the kitchen sink tap or if in bottles they are plastic so more for the orange bags.
Not sure whether you can still get money back on glass bottles, I know when I was a kid there were some pop bottles you got a few pence if you took them back where you got them from.
Jumping Bejeeezus!
Bleeping Computer(dot)com is getting just as bad with all the ads on pages loading as TweakTown
They have a lot of good security articles, but are getting so greedy that the page jumps around while reading and even more ads load.
Looks like it's time for me to find another site.
Note: I do not use my ad blocker on sites I go to all the time/frequent, but holy "F" this is ridiculous.
The problem is not greed it's adblockers, over the last 12 months I have seen adblocking rates increase from 25 to 50% on my sites, the only option is put in more ads or close down.
