We had an old "portable" computer in our tech classes from the 70's, weighed about 15 lbs or so, was there for demonstration purposes. He probably brought that in to show the kids how lucky they are nowadays.
I had one of those with MS-DOS 4 and Windows 2, haven't seen it in over 20 years so may have thrown it out.

I cannot find the picture of it, but the first "laptops" where the size of a large suitcase with a small CRT green or orange monochrome monitor, 5.25" floppy disk drive and almost full size keyboard. And they weighted too much to carry with you all the time, unless absolutely necessary. Of course they where also too expensive for the average user and those who did had one where businessmen usually.

PS: Not sure if this is the first one, but you get the idea. It is from the '70s:

Mine had the looks of an over-sized word processor which was just a portable typewriter.

Mid 80's, I had a Commodore VIP-64. Back then, it was quite advanced portable computer.

Sadly, it was lost at sea! Sometime late 80's / early 90's (can't remember) me and some friends went for traditional Finnish Midsummer party / long weekend at a sommer residence of one of my friends in an island in Archipelago Sea (west coast of Finland in Baltic Sea) on a boat of his parents, and a very drunk, younger Kari dropped all his belongings to the sea after a most ridiculous fight with my ex-wife (number #1/4 or #2/4, can't remember which one).

No gaming during that long weekend party!

The 'slot' or receptacle at top right is reminiscent of the machine using punch cards we used 30 or more years ago for submitting time-worked to payroll.

I used this IBM portable 5155 model 68 for programing controllers in production machines.
