This is true. And as I mentioned, it's not as prevalent once you use it a while. It does have ceramic heating elements for even heat distribution. Maybe get one & give it a shot, your Wife would probably like the fact it's not as messy.

Well, we did have one weekend where the fire dept showed up. One little piece of tupperware I forgot to remove from the oven before preheating it. Talk about smoke.

After that happened, every time I got near the stove the cat ran out of the house.
