I had something like that a few years ago . . . kept hearing an "electrical type" buzz and couldn't find it. Hunted for hours and finally discovered my cell phone in the window vibrating for incoming calls. Whew! I was really worried for a bit. I never did figure out why it wasn't ringing instead of buzzing.
