Last One To Post Wins [125]

Just read that Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard) and Snoop Dogg have invested 10 million dollars into a British weed company.

I am liking it more and more as I use it. The only thing that bugs me, is that when a new email comes and the notification pops up, it shows the subject twice for me. Not sure why it is doing that. Maybe I will figure it out or one of you knows how or why it does that(if you get the same).
Hmmmm... no double subject lines here.

Must be, lol. A second notification and only one again. And another just came through that was only one. Might have been a bug in the older version, idk. It is only showing one now. Me likey

    Enjoy din din TC

EDIT: Thunderbird does something that no email program I have used can do. When I get an email, it alerts on my phone as well. In W10 Mail and others I have to manually refresh on the PC before the alert on cell disappears. With Thunderbird, as soon as I read it, whoosh its gone on cell. Very nice!

OK, folks, I've finally written a report on the trip to Lake Ouachita:

Lake Ouachita Fun in the Sun
So, we got loaded and on the road around 8:00 yesterday morning. Although Robbie’s smaller frame would fit better in the middle than mine or Johnny’s, he wanted to ride on the outside. Cyndi solved the situation by putting Johnny in the front seat with Russ and away we went; mom and daughter squished against each other.

When we got to the marina, there was a car parked in the 15-minute loading zone; we told the powers that be, but no one seemed to care; with much inconvenience and extra carrying, we got unloaded and reloaded into the boat while the “tech” was explaining operations to Russ. Then they found the prop was somewhat damaged, but from what I saw, nothing serious; still the “tech” needed to show it to his boss, which took some more time. However, once we got underway some 45 minutes late, the breeze was wonderful!

Lake Ouachita, surrounded by Ouachita National Forest, covers 40,000 plus acres, contains over 419 billion gallons of water and has around 200 islands. Between 1947 and 1952, the Ouachita River Valley was cleared for the reservoir by buying property, closing small towns, and relocating residents. Some of those towns were destroyed, but some were left undisturbed as the dam was built and flooding of the valley began.

We threaded our way around and between the islands, some of which had identifying numbers (landmarks? watermarks?) to guide us back to the marina we started from. Of course, we had a map to show the way once we found an island with an identifying number.

The first time we stopped, it was on the regular shoreline, rather than an island. By then, we were ready for a swim. We swam and played in the water for an hour or so, then moved on to see what else we could find.

We found a nice island and decided to stop there and have lunch. We had fried chicken (what else should we have!?), potato salad, sandwich makings and chips. I was sitting at the edge, a little way into the water when I noticed small minnows, large minnows and small bream swimming around me. I told the rest and they had their own fishies!

I crumbled up some low salt potato chips and threw them in the water and they were immediately gobbled up!

I swear, fish can smell! Russ was standing waist deep in the water with a plate of food in his hand; there were small minnows, large minnows and small and medium bream swimming around him. He had a chicken leg in his hand, so he shook it and some of the breading came off in the water. . . He was immediately surrounded by twice as many little fishies!

For the next hour, we had a great time feeding fish. We picked meat off the bones and gave it to them. Some pretty big bream were there by then, and they made some pretty good splashes as they came up for the food!

Once we got tired of eating and feeding fish, we decided to kind of clean ourselves up by going out further into the lake with our various floating devices; noodles and floating chairs. Those fish weren’t taking it laying down, though; they quickly told us they were still hungry!

First, Cyndi screeched and almost jumped out of the water. Someone had nipped her and said, “More chicken, please!” Then, Russell got his back nipped, with one telling him, “Hey! Why’d ya stop with the chicken!?” I got it too, with one telling me, “Iffen ya don’t gimme more chiken, this ain’t da last bite ya gonna git!” And it wasn’t. We took turns jumping and yelping for the next half hour or so, until we decided to move to a new and hopefully more interesting place. Although, chicken eating fish are quite interesting, if ya ask me.

Cyndi and I got some nice sandstone specimens. . . I found one that looked like a dog with both eye and nose in profile!

Our third stop was at an island again, where it looked like a bad storm had gone through in the past couple months, uprooting trees. As we played and swam there, we didn’t encounter any minnows or bream, but, Russ and I heard a rumble in the distance. We looked at each other, but then ignored it. Fifteen or 20 minutes later, we heard it again, but since it wasn’t very near, we ignored it again. The rumbles started to get closer together, and by the time they were only about a minute or so apart, we decided it was time to head for the marina, although we still had three hours left of boat time.

We found the island number corresponding to our marina, and following the map, we made it in; it took us 20 or 30 minutes to find the island, then another 15 or 20 minutes to get where we needed to be. By the time we got the boat re-gassed, the sky was very black. We all were glad we’d decided to head for home when we did!

The boat dock hand was guiding us in and caused Russ to hit the corner of the dock! He knew he was in the wrong, because he said, “If no one saw that happen, I’m not going to report it.” Guess no one saw it because nothing was added to the bill. Russ said the boat wasn’t hurt anyway.

We got the truck packed up once more with the help of a cart the marina provided and were on our way home. About a mile or so from the marina, a gully washer came down and tried to drown the truck and all our belongings. We had to stop and retrieve Russ’s and Johnny’s wallets and Cyndi’s inverter from the one box that didn’t have a lid. Thankfully, a beach towel had been folded and laid across the box, so not a whole lot got wet.

Once we got home, we unloaded my and Johnny’s stuff into the garage and forgot about it until this morning. Both of us collapsed into our recliners and passed out!

All in all, it was a great day; especially feeding the fish!
