    Why hdmi on monitor?

I just went over to Amazon for a new monitor and noted that many come with hdmi. Even the ones without speakers. What other benefits do hdmi bring?

HDMI from PC to TV/Monitor will allow you to view Hulu, YouTube, Netflix, etc. on your TV/Monitor and also provides audio...

HDMI is now the common connection. PC, Game Console, TV. It greatly simplifies things for me. My cable box uses it, my XBOX uses it, my raspberry Pi's use it, my PC's use it. My TV gets used as a monitor more than it ever gets used as a TV.
Smaller connector that is IMHO, much easier to connect and unconnect than DVI.

Thanks, people. I get why a computer might want a hdmi output. But still not clear why a monitor would need it.

Having it on the PC and the monitor, saves you from having to use an HDMI to DVI adapter. VGA is disappearing and not too many laptops will have a DVI port. It's replacing DVI as the new standard. It and display port.

I prefer HDMI and Display Port on monitors since the cable connectors are just plugged in and don't require any screws to hold them in place. It's easier and faster. One of my newer monitors doesn't even have a DVI connector.
