If you do not unplug it from the modem there is a chance of lighting damage unless you are wireless.

It rained All day here tempts stayed in the mid 70's only got .06" of rain and no sun.

Good I have had no loss of equipment due to lighting coming in on the power but have lost thousands on it coming in on the other cables I have three holes on my concrete slab due to lighting and one happened when I was 15 feet away inside a building.

I do think you get much worse storms then we do up here thou. But it only takes a min to unplug the modem, and my router.
