I just recently switched ISP's and for the most part changing my e-mail on the web sites I frequent was easy peasy. Not so with Microsoft though.
Changed it on my online Microsoft Account and its pending, not going to be updated until the 31st of this month. They make you wait 30 days before your "new" contact info is updated. The first time I tried to access it with the new e-mail I had to send an activation code to myself over land line to access it. I don't own a smart phone to have it sent by text. Even after doing that, every time I access it I get a did you really do this pop up, that I have to ignore. If I don't ignore it, clicking the link in it undoes my changes.
As a Windows Insider MVP I have access to Microsoft's private Yammer group. Tried to change my e-mail address there and it won't let you. Eventually figured out who to contact and they had to give me a totally new account with the new e-mail, and lock out the old one. Really? In this day and age? So now there are two accounts under my name, and I have no access to the old account, and any PM's sent to it. And, access to the Windows Insider MVP group is pending. I don't have access.
Same deal with My Visual Studio Subscription, no way to just change my e-mail info. It let me change it, but I got locked out of my account? It would not let me log in with the old or new e-mail address. That meant having to get a new account. The down side is I have no access to any product codes I acquired under the old account. I can't log in to export them. Only those I saved prevously, assuming they aren't blocked / blacklisted when the account is terminated. On the plus side I can request new codes. I guess that's a + and a -
In summery, Microsoft why make things so complicated and inconvenient?
Something else that greatly complicates this stuff is Windows Insider MVP's are a subclass of Windows MVP's. We are way down on the totem pole. It's been my experience that most of the organizations Yammer etc just don't want to deal with us. They just pass the buck. Which is one reason I did not apply to be renewed this year, And had my Insider MVP badges pulled here.
