Wow - man is a legend. He has just been in the new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy radio show on BBC Radio 4.

I think his greatest attribute was his refusal to let his body rule his mind but more importantly make others recognise it.

Before my father died, he was in a wheelchair (only for a few weeks mercifully) and people would come up and ask questions like "would he like an icecream". I would reply "I don't know - it is his legs that are not working, not his ears!". People have a ridiculous habit of treating people in wheelchairs as deaf, dumb and retarded.

Professor Stephen Hawking demonstrated that so long as your mind is free, then you are free.

RIP Stephen Hawking....although suffering most of his life with appalling health problems, an inspiration to all.

Thanks for posting Shawn....of course it reminds us that technology helped, this enabled Hawking to get his views across to the outside world.
Am also reminded the great man spent a large portion of his youth here in my home city.
