How do I remove an app linked to a file

I accidently clicked open a certain file with internet explorer (which doesn't open the file anyway) and I didn't uncheck 'always'. I am wanting to remove internet explorer as the default app, I have gone into app settings and tried, it will only let me change it. The issue is there doesn't seem to be an app that opens the file. This is the file. I have tried deleting it and then resaving but it now constantly saves with internet explorer. It is a back up file of all my designs for a vinyl cutting machine.

    Hi Laurine,

What is the file extension (the characters after the dot) for the My Library file? You will need to right click the file and select properties to see this.

Here is a method which will remove the association and not involve any editing of the registry.

Step 1: Create a file with the name temp.studio_library using Notepad and the File -> Save As menu and save it to your desktop or documents folder. (The file can be an empty file or contain some random text)

Step 2: Right click on one of your genuine Studio_library files and click on Open with...

Step 3: Select from More Apps and scroll down to where it says Look for another App on this PC, click this link

Step 4: Find and Select the file you created in Step 1

Step 5: This will attempt to associate the file but it will fail and remove the previous association

Step 6: Now delete the original file you created in step 1

Step 7: When you try to open your genuine studio_library file you will find that it has no association anymore.
