I like the temps I see in beeman's and Wynona's postings.

Well north of me they are talking 16 hours of freezing rain. Freezing rain usually means power outages and given the sparse population over very large areas of land there will be some long duration outages in what will soon turn back to frigid weather.

Hope they have generators and or wood stoves.

I prefer that temps too. But mine would be below freezing for the next ten days

Freezing rain is terrible. We have had our share three or four years ago

December 2013 we had "The Ice Storm". People in the city were without power for two weeks. Ice formed on the trees and then the trees came down. Toronto is known for it green canopy, very large very old trees with above ground wiring coming in from poles on street. What a mess.

My mom's apartment lost power for eight days. She stayed with us. I tried several exit routes out of my neighbourhood only to be thwarted by trees lying across road. In an emergency some houses were inaccessible.

We had the ice storm in 1998 here, lost power for 17 days. I already had bought a generator before the storm hit us. Since then only a few smaller ones, had one this year, but I was one of the lucky ones that never lost their power. A lot of others were not so lucky.

Must have been the same season ... Check the video below. Woods are still not cleaned, well cleaned but far from recovered... . 3 days of freezing rain
