While at the Senior Center attending a genealogy class and then teaching my computer class, our laser printer was putting out dirty documents, so the manager of the center asked me to figure out how to clean 'em up. Well, the printer is so old that there's not a way to clean it up through the preferences/properties, so I pulled out the (newly replaced) toner cartridge and looked at it. Slid the slider back and forth, although the manager had already done that. I noticed that the slider had to have a final click to go back in place. Hmmmm, clicked it into place, put it back and printed a clean test page!

I was also asked to install the "big guns" printer; no one there had the know-how to do it. Although they could see the printer, they couldn't get it installed. Piece of cake ... printer installed nicely for me.

I reported to the manager that her requests were fulfilled and walked out with a feather in my cap! Not anything that requires all that much technical skill, but to the novice, I had hung the moon!

Bottom line is that it feels really good to solve an ongoing problem they had. Every computer in the lab can now print to the small printer and the teacher's computer can print to the big printer when we need lots of copies.
