    Hello Masterchiefxx17,
yes I understand. Technology is now an integral part of modern life and we see this in bill paying, banking etc. However there are times when we don't need to have our phone on. For example at night or in the afternoon while we take a nap. We don't have to be at the beck and call of these bleeping machines all the time ... emails, messages and alerts will still come through when we switch back on.

Yep. Its easier than you realize too. I seldom have my phone on me anyway. And its a dumb phone at that. Well, maybe not a "dumb" phone but nothing on it except calls and texts. I've never even set up a browser on it. I don't need to know the exact second that I get an e-mail OR a message on my phone. I check my e-mail once a day, twice if I'm expecting something and can go literally days without even touching my phone. So you see nithig, we're not so different after all.

    Indeed indiacarnie,
    yr comment
we're not so different after all.
reminds me of a story about one group of folks arguing how they
were so different from another group. Eventually someone came along who was able to point out how 'like' one another they were.
Same body temperature, same 18 tissue salts in the blood stream, same 400 odd bacterial types in the gut ... same, same, same ....
Perhaps that's a large part of the reason for our being here?

I see we share an appreciation of F. N.
"The sciences pursued without any restraint & in a spirit of blindest laissez-faire, are shattering & dissolving all firmly held belief...
The world has never been more worldly, never poorer in love & goodness." Friedrich Nietche (Untimely Meditations)

Yep, he can be a tough slog at times but has some real insights and some brilliant observations about humans and their condition. He kind of went out of his mind in his later years but he's someone I always recommend reading.

Experience this past weekend. Was in a clothing store with my wife, she paid cash for her purchases and was sure she gave them the exact amount, cash and change (less than a dollar change). Two young clerks had a heck of time, counted it at least twice, then said was short five cents. Rather than argue, she gave them the five cents. Then they counted a couple more times, then gave her back the five cents. I guess we are in plastic card world now.
