Agree Mike. When you ask them for license number or product number they babble. Then you ask what is my IP, what version of Windows am I on, more babble.
All these scams work on our human emotions, curiosity, greed and fear. Once they tell you someone is trying to hack machine the fear element has been established and they are just trying to set the hook.
This call has been rolling around town for years.

I must remember the 8.8.8.8 answer, just for an additional giggle. The longer you can keep them on the phone talking useless nonsense the better.
We get lots of calls here for air duct cleaning. They usually ask for the home owner. If they don't ask I ask them if they need home owner.
I yell out "Hey Frank it's for you" and put phone down. Come back several minutes later and ask if Frank joined. I yell out again. I do this till they hang up. Idiots.
