I thought I had told the group that Lucy was going to get her girl parts rearranged, but I guess too much was going on and I forgot.
So, we put Lucy into her carrier and took her to the SPCA here (they do low cost spay and neuter, as well as low cost shots, etc.). When I got home without Lucy, Gracie looked around and slunk off to her couch. I've never seen such a "hang dog" expression on her before. It was like she was asking where her Lucy was. Poor baby moped for the rest of the day. She couldn't believe it! She'd been working so hard to get Lucy to love her, and had just succeeded, then there was no Lucy. I kept telling her Lucy would be back, but she didn't believe me.
At 4:00, Cyndi and I went to get Lucy. When I came in the door with the carrier, Gracie, who usually greets me with exuberance, didn't even look at me. She ran straight for the carrier door, tail wagging 90 miles per hour and tried to poke her nose through the wires! We had to leave Lucy in the carrier for another two hours, and Gracie repeatedly went to the door and tried to lick Lucy. I don't think I've ever seen a dog so happy to see her kitty.
Gracie has been very gentle and solicitous with Lucy; they lay on the couch together. It's like Gracie knows Lucy is supposed to take it easy. I hope they can wait for a week to continue their rough housing habit...
Great! Can picture that
