    The Raspberry Pi Thread [4]

Was intending to play around with the GPIO extender. Wrote up a quick little python file to flash some leds in sequence, like traffic lights. Looks like you have to use "pigpio". meh, maybe some other day. I just don't have the ambition at this time, to redo it. carrot on a stick comes to mind.

not sure if this will work with a traffic system setup on a breadboard but it might ,or might be one that can be altered .
    its for this device .

I was just playing around, thought I'd have some fun. I had four LED's plugged in Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. It just ended up being more work than I was in the mood for at that moment. It's a cool feature, just didn't have enough ambition to keep going. Was in a bit of a funk today. Dark and dreary day, and I'm a bit sore. I just figured, instead of blinking 1 LED I'll blink a couple one after the other. I'll have another go another day.
I think I might pick up one or two of these at some point, price is right. https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/p...r-raspberry-pi

I can't buy anything Pi related until my birthday in February. The traffic light things are a small version of the 10mm LED thing I built for my portable weather clock. Just without a blue LED. I was thinking I could add 3 to my indoor weather clock Pi. One for temp, one for humidity and one got pressure. Just for quick glance indicators. No Red lit up and your good to go, sort of kind of. What I'll likely do is just add 1 to and order to play with. If it works out I'll buy a few more on my next order. Next order is more rover parts, that's my plan anyway.

I would like to build a real weather station here at home. The Pi foundation did one up for schools. Last time I looked you couldn't buy one outright for yourself. There was talk that that would change and it would be offered to the public. If you go to the Pi Foundation downloads page you should see the Pi image for it. That lightning detector looks cool.

yeah I seen the image for the weather station, and I thought the lightning detector would be right up your Pi alley

Not sure what a lightning detector is for. Can't you just look out the window and see that there's lightning or hear the thunder? Maybe it's just to record lightning storms that occur while you're asleep or otherwise unaware.

Here in California, lightning isn't a big concern. We get lightning but I guess not as severe as other places as we don't have lightning rods or other protective devices.
