I got it from there ,i downloade the orignal file at the bottom ,not sure if maybe i should use that or a updated one .. ,File finally downloaded ,i used Etcher to image the sdcard and it booted to desktop ,i'm no longer in the mood to do anymore with it ,lol

yeah,i may never use it on a daily basis for sure,wish i could learn code ,[and hook light and things to the hat ]but i cant,i try reading,the next day i just forget everything i read the day before ...and im starting to think my memory is getting worse actually

Thats the way things go for me sometimes. The last time I used my AIY I just used plain Jain Raspbian. Then started installing stuff manually for the sound etc. My plan was to use the AIY hat without all the Google stuff. I then needed that Pi for something else and that plan went on the back burner. I'll have another go some time this summer.

thanks for the offer ,might take you up on the offer when you get to doing it .., last time i was ordering knitting stuff for my wife on amazon i bought one of there controlling AC devices just for the heck of it ,it was ,$9.99 I should be able to follow the instructions there .to make it do something

From the looks of it the Pi's 3.3V logic high turns on a transistor. That is a very low current draw from the GPIO pin driving it and won't hurt the Pi. A couple of milliamps maybe?
The transistor then feeds the Pi's +5V to the relay turning it on. That will draw more current but its coming from the +5V pin on the GPIO which is only limited by the Pi's poly fuse. It's pretty well coming right from your power supply.
Even if you draw too much current the poly fuse will just trip. I would think its maybe 10 to 20 ma or so to turn on the relay? No big deal, not even close to anything that would trip the poly fuse.
Then on the output side of the relay you have the Normally Closed, common, and Normally open contacts. They are completely isolated from everything else. Just think of it as a switch the relay switches.
