This is the camera lens adjustment tool that came with my Version 2 camera, Lens Adjustment Tool for Raspberry Pi Camera ID: 3518 - $0.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique fun DIY electronics and kits Just FYI.
I didn't know there's a tool for that. I find it easy enough to rotate with just my fingers.
I tried to use tweezers but it can't get a good grip. I even thought I scratch the lens when the tweezers suddenly slipped off while I was turning it.

Looks like I'll be stuck in the house today rainy crappy outside. I may have another go at some this once my wife gets up. Just going to relax and enjoy my morning coffee for now. Thanks for all the info badrobot.
My step daughter reminded me she gave us her old smart phone, we were going to do the prepaid thing and keep it for emergencies. Have to figure out what I did with it and where I put it. It should be usable over my WIFI.
I find these phone apps very convenient. You don't have to get up just to check if your pi is working fine or if you need to ssh to it to get it to do something. The remote desktop connection app is free. And it is developed by Microsoft.

There are also plenty of free app for SSHing but I purchased the Juice SSH app because it has the usual keyboard keys that you use for SSHing (like "ctrl", "/", etc.).

I do believe the original version 1 cameras have the focus locked in by a drop of super glue or hot glue or something. To refocus those required a bit of force to break the glue bonding. I think thats what the tool was originally made for. For refocusing the camera on close objects, using it like a microscope etc. The version 2 cameras aren't glued, so its easy to adjust them. Easy to mess up the focus too I guess if your not careful handling them? My camera came with the adjustment tool in the box? I used forceps the last time, ring won't fit on with my camera mounted in the difusser. The heads of the mounting screws get in the way. I was also leery or scratching the lens. Just took my time and watched what I was doing.
I'm just doing some due diligence and making backup images of my Motion Eye SD cards. Then if one of the cameras glitches I don't have to start all over from scratch. Every once in a while IE just will not connect to one or more cameras. Usually rebooting the PC fixes it, not sure what is the issue, IE or Motion Eye? I may switch to Edge. I've been using IE mainly because I can put a short cut to "each" camera on my taskbar, and they open in their own Window, not tabbed. If I use Edge I have to drag the tab to another monitor. I may have up to 3 cameras on the go.

Took my AIY build apart and removed the Pi, will get back to that eventually. Took that Pi3B (not a +) and version 1 camera out and put it in my new Smart Pi case. It's till running motion eye, for now.
Will swap SD cards and switch it to Raspbian tomorrow maybe and have a go at what @badrobot posted. Just wasn't up to messing with it today.
Switched monitoring the 3B+ motion eye setup that was giving me issues, to Edge. So far so good, it's been on most of the day with no issues. No lockups / freezes in the video feed. Switched all the feeds over to Edge.

Just swapped my Raspbian Micro SD into my Pi 3B+, what a difference doing update upgarde on a Pi 3B+ on 5G WIFI, versus a Pi Zero W on 2G. Nice and fast versus painfully slow, lol. I have the gide @badrobot posted up n my XBOX and will have a go as soon as the updating Raspbian is finished.

Not working for me? When I enter that Pi's IP with the 8010 port number at the end IE keeps prompting to open or save some file? And Edge just says can't securely connect to this page? Must have screwed something up. Putting it away for now, neck is getting sore. Will start over from scratch on another day.

Did you open the 8081 port on your router?

I didn't do anything on my Router. I do believe Motion Eye uses that same port to stream its video so I don't "think" thats the issue. I'll give it some thought though. To view my Motion Eye stream I just enter the IP in the browser, no having to add the port number at the end.
I'm going to switch that Pi to my 2.5G WIFI and see what happens. And double check what I did first time through.

8081 is not a default port. It has to be forwarded to access it. But see if you can use the same port as the motion eye.
Also, try doing this part if you are having problem with the video.

I did those edits including setting the last two to off. It looks like Motion EYE uses port 80 for the web interface, which is what I've been accessing. I'll log into my ISP's Router and see if I can forward port 8081. If I can remeber / figure out what the login is. I loged in once before when I first got it.
