Got the surveillance cam to work in Rasbian Stretch..
Nice work @badrobot Definately going to give that Pi Came a try. Maybe latter today. What resolution is your video? Do you know what Frames Per Second your getting?
I plan on adding my BME680 to my indoor weather clock today. The humidity sensor on the sense hat is reading way high and isn't reliable anymore. Will see how sore I am after that. Some wireing to add to the Proto Hat thats in it to add a header for the BME680 and one or two mounting holes to drill.
Need to test my new LEDshim and Unicorn Hat HD just to make sure they work too at some point.
I'm hoping to get a couple hours a day out on the deck to tinker. It's supposed to be above 20c the next few days.
My Unicorn hat HD is tested, looks like all the LED's worked? The test file cycles through diferent colors and patterns. Kind of hard to really tell if 1 led red green or blue is dead? I may run some of the other examples when I get time.
LED shim wouldn't work, IO error. Was only on by fricktion fit. I'm going to solder a header on it and test it again, not happing today though. Necks geting sore.
BME680 is all wired up to my weather clock. Just finished installing the software. Just have to test my new python file. I'll post some pictures latter. I have to pull them off my camera and resize them to upload them.
EDIT: New file worked first time with no errors. Thats one project / upgrade checked off.
Just a FYI post. I don't know if this works on a 3B (don't think so) but on a 3B+, if you ground pin 5, (GPIO 3, SCL) the Pi will boot up same as shorting the RUN pins. There is also an edit you can do to the config.txt to make it shut down when that pin is grounded. I'd have to look it up to tell you what it is. That 3B+ is running Motion Eye OS so I can't do the shutdown edit anyway. I just shut it down from the settings menu. Boot up works though if I leave it powered up after shuting down. I think they picked that Pin because Ground is right across from it, Pin 6.
Found the command to add to config.txt,You can change the pin= to what ever you want for shutdown, but for boot up its hard wired to GPIO 3 physical pin 5. Can't find the actual Pi Foundation documentation on this though?Code:dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown,gpio_pin=3

As for my cam, I set it to 1280x960 resolution so the framerate is low but it doesn't matter because it's not like I am watching a movie or something. As long as the picture is clear. It maxes to 11fps at that reso. It's faster if I make the picture smaller.

1280 x 720 is a suported resolution for that camera module. 1080P @ 30 FPS and 720P @ 60 FPS. I'm running mine at 720P.
