Ah, photo resistor, basic how bright is light. I "think" its a high resistance with no light and the resistance drops as the light intensity increases. I should have a couple of those kicking around. There is usually one of those in those kits with LEDs resisters, capacitors, and switches etc. Don't take this the wrong way but its one of those things not easily damaged so its great for kits for tinkering learning. No polarity either so you can plug it in either way etc and they are inexpensive.

Hi guys, question about the Pi 3B+. It says "gigabit ethernet over USB". Does it mean I need to use one of those usb to gig ethernet adapters? The native ethernet port is just 100mbps?

No, what I think that means is as follows. The Pi 3B+'s ethernet port is a gigabit port, but it runs though USB internally. It's a gigabit in every way but speed. It's faster than the one on the 3B but still not full gigabit speed. 300 megabit I think?
Have a look at this, Raspberry Pi 3B+ Specs and Benchmarks - The MagPi MagazineThe MagPi Magazine
You won't get full gigabit even if you were to attach an adapter to USB, same bottleneck would happen.

Thanks for the info. Exactly what I am looking for. I just wanna use it to upgrade my Kodi to take advantage of my gigabit internet speed.
I was also worried that Libreelec may not be optimized for 3B+ but then I saw this:

    LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.2.4 MR LibreELEC

I just placed an order a couple of minutes ago and it should be delivered to me before I get home from work.

This is the best deal I can find on Amazon that comes with the official Pi case and power supply. Plus of course, same-day free delivery. I think I just snapped the last one. :)The Raspberry Pi Thread [4]-screenshot_2018-07-13-07-20-53.jpeg

While its still not full gigabit speed wise, 300mb is 3 times the 100mb you get with any other Pi. Nice boost in speed. It still meets all the other specs for gigabit ethernet. You can go from device to device with out having to use crossover network cable, etc. Its a nice step forward from the 3B.

That's a nice looking case. One downside is it has absolutely no ventilation. It's the case I used for my KODI Pi. I drilled a whole bunch of holes in mine for ventilation. What you could do is just leave that top most cover off. Kind of spoils the looks IMHO.
And it looks like the 3B+ throttles at 60c now instead of the I think it was 70c. You can put it back to 70 with a config.txt edit. I think its config.txt.
My 3B+ is in a nice ventilated case and has a heatsink so I haven't bothered to go change the throttle temp setting. I only know about because it was brought up on the Pi Foundation forum.
