If you do a sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get upgrade, from the Pi its currently in, that will make it bootable in the 3B+ without having to reflash it. If you do reflash it, make sure to get the latest Raspbian download or it won't boot up.

Done ... so far on WIFI ,web pages loading much faster than the
pi3b ,but it could be just excitement of the new Pi 3b+ lol

tomorrow nite i'm going to put it into my official pi 7" lcd case and install netflix to see how it works .
Because of the extra height of the cpu [heat shield or what ever they are calling it ]it will not fit into my Aluminum KODI case

Heat Spreader is what I think they call it. The CPU (SOC in this case) is where it always was, taller though, like you found out. Some of the other chips have changed position though. Most, if not all, of the thermal cooling cases won't fit now.

When I finally get mine, haven't ordered it yet =( , it will likely go on the back of my Pi foundation screen in my bread board rig. I have a Pibow Midnight Eclipse case on that one that I can modify if need be. It already has a cutout in it for the heat sink. I have a spare top layer anyway. Top two layers I think. I used the bottom half of a second one as a cover for the display driver board.

I'm hoping I can use the one I already cut the hole in and save the spare cover in case I need it latter on. You can't buy those cases anymore. I'm just going to cut those POE pins off flush. I'll unsolder them if need be, I'll never ever use them on that rig.

I'm going to do something else while I have it apart, that I should have done a while ago. Drill or cut out around the status LED's so I can tell when its fully shut down. I can't remember what the layer under that top cover looks like? I may dig out my spare and have a look see to tell if I will have to cut it. The other PIBOW cases have all kinds of kinks and bends pieces in them.

Looks like I'll be doing some cutting and trimming. I may have already cut some of it out, I'll see when I take it all apart.
