More progress before the night is over. I was able to make a prototype just to check if the design will work. And it did. Exactly the way I designed it.
In the video, when the red LED strip lights up momentarily, that means the switch was pushed.

I would also like to try the solenoid push-pull switch before I finalize my project.

the servo pins are showing near the batteries,, you need to solder on some pins
Cool, might have to get me one of those. Hmm, a Google assistant that follows me around the house. With a Robot Arm on it.

Keep an eye on the stopping position of you motor / plunger thingy. If it slowly drifts out of position you may end up in a situation where it stops with the button held down.

Yeah,I saw that as a possible issue but it won't be the end of the world...haha...
Anyway, I was able to actually test it on my PC last night. And also ordered the solenoid thingy and should be here tonight.

Now you just need a second one to turn your monitor on off.

Haha... those monitors actually go to sleep when there's no signal from the PC.

Yeah was looking at the link Jack posted. I will likely download that MagPi, if I haven't already, and have a read to see what it can and can't do. Price isn't too bad, about 37 Canadian. Not counting shipping etc. I'll likely buy one down the road some time. I have other things on my "I want" list I want first though.

The solenoid switch I ordered last night was delivered at my door at 8:30 this morning.
I have another hardware to fiddle with tonight...
