Talking abouit light, one thing I noticed with the version 1 camera is in dim light conditions it goes a bit wonky? I have one camera in my living room. Originally it was a Pi 3B and version 1 camera. At night when my wife had just the one lamp on next to her chaire, there was lots of orange and red hues in the image on my monitor. Looked like a sunset sort of?
Now with a Pi 3B+ and version 2 camera, it looks more normal. Kind of black and white with no orange or red hues in the background. IMHO the V2 camera is the way to go. Field of view is bigger too. It's wider with the version 2 camera. Even at 1280 x 720.

That is probably the main reason why they release updated versions depending on the type of use. The V1 is only intended for daytime use with normal daylight conditions. The V2 is designed for night shots and the NoIR which as the name implies, is an infrared lens.

I played around with my Pi Cam today and tested different resolution. I settled with 1176x664 which gives me an average of 20fps video.

There is NOIR version of the version 1 camera. I think I may have to adjust the focus on my V2? I'm going to put a V1 side by side and compare first. Seems a bit out of focus to me though.

Played with adjusting the focus of my camera, it is clearer now.

Hey Jack there was a code error on my THP.py file in the temperature part. I had a >30 that should have had a space in it and been "and t > 30". Its fixed in the file in my One Drive folder. I think it will glitch if the temp goes over 25c?

What direction did you turn it? CW? CCW? Around how many degrees?

Both ways, I have no idea how much I changed it. My camera came with a white focusing ring, thats what I used to adjust it. Its shown in one of the pictures I posted earlier. You slip in on the end and adjust it like you would focus a hand held camera. The ring has indents that line up with matching indents on the outer most round part of the Pi camera lens. Apparently some of the version 2 cameras left the factory slightly out of focus? I don't think mine was super glued to lock the focus in either? It turned very easily. My version 1 cameras are glued, you can see where they put one lone drop to lock the focus in.

The v2's are designed for 2 meter focusing. That's why anything beyond 2mtrs appear blurry. The v2.1 are set to infinity.
I am assuming mine is also set to 2mtrs ( I purchased from Amazon). Probably one of the older v2 versions. Will try to re-focus mine as well.

I had another glitch in my new file that I edited for my addition of the BME680. I left something out when clipping and pasting. I didn't notice the glitch until the temp went over 25c and it stopped displaying any messages. While fixing that I noticed the other error. Well I think its an error, maybe python is fine with the missing space?
    >30 and > 30 may do the same thing? It might also error out when the temp hits 30c? I saw it so I corrected it to match all my other code syntax. Changing it won't break anything so I fixed it.

I'm going to play with my focus again, this time at the 720P resolution I plan on using. The first time I changed it back to 1080p to focus it. Going to do it in the room I plan on using it in too. I have to take mine apart to get the focus ring on it, not going to do that this time, I'm just going to use a pair of forceps, going to try anyway. Its better than it was but still looks a bit fuzzy. Might just be the 720p resolution. Going to play with it some more today anyway. Once the sun comes up. Pitch black out at the moment and I'd rather do it in nice bright daylight conditions.
